Happy Mother’s Day! I wanted today’s selection to be something my wife would enjoy and I know she loves Norah Jones. It also occurred to me that I’ve only chosen albums by men so far. I only know a small portion of her catalog, so there was a lot to choose from, with guaranteed quality throughout. This album has all of the great songwriting and mellow moods that I would expect from her work. We listened to it while lounging poolside and it was the perfect accompaniment. Being quarantined has taken its toll on everyone, so its great to have moments throughout the day that take us out of that mindset. I think that’s at least partially why people seem to be so much nicer to each other these days. Being starved for human interaction has made me want to abandon some of my most misanthropic tendencies. While walking with the kids this evening, I saw another family approaching. The dad was wearing a Valentino Rossi shirt. Being a huge fan of MotoGP myself, I considered conversing with the man about how much I wish there were races to watch these days. Of course, when it came down to it, my natural instincts kicked in and I just nodded at the guy, but I think that shows growth on my part.
