I listened to this album while reading in bed last night. While I did really enjoy it, I also fell asleep about 3/4 of the way through and woke up at 1:30 AM with Spotify still playing. This is not to suggest that it was a boring album by any means; It was a busyContinue reading “#411 – Antarctica by Tom West”

#410 – Eat The Light by Lotus
I’ve spent the last few days traveling with the family and it has been quite the roller coaster ride. Unpredictable ups and downs coming in left and right, often with precious little respite strewn about. Nothing has ever made me question my life choices so frequently and so deeply. But this is the selected pathContinue reading “#410 – Eat The Light by Lotus”
#409 – After The Fire by Cody Jinks
Happy Father’s Day to all! I hope all the dads out there are enjoying a fun and mellow day with people who made them the proud pater familiases that they are today.
#408 – self-titled by Perpetual Groove
Here’s yet another band that I probably should’ve known about around 15 years ago. This is a really cool album and I’m looking forward to exploring their live catalog.
#407 – The Great War by Sabaton
I came across these guys by accident, while reading some random Reddit thread. They are basically the metal band equivalent to my favorite podcast, Hardcore History. Each of Sabaton’s warfare-themed albums recounts gritty stories from one of humanity’s greatest conflicts. This one is about various parts of World War One, the birthplace of industrial warfareContinue reading “#407 – The Great War by Sabaton”
#406 – Urban Driftwood by Yasmin Williams
This is a great solo acoustic guitar album by someone who seems to have been heavily influenced by the likes of Michael Hedges. Very mellow and enjoyable, and the perfect temporary escape from these trying times.
#405 – Sadness by Jessie Brown
Damn, almost forgot to post another one. I thought I was past this shit. Sigh.
#404 – Finding Flora by Lisa Parade
This week I’m working on one of the most prestigious live events of my very underwhelming audio career: a middle school graduation ceremony for an exclusive private school. It’s at least as well-run and entertaining as a great many random award shows and live events that I’ve worked on. Anyway, the music teacher that isContinue reading “#404 – Finding Flora by Lisa Parade”
#403 – self-titled by Mammoth WVH
When the son of the legendary Eddie Van Halen puts out his band’s first album, it seems like a solid choice for the daily selection. How bad can it be? Not too bad at all, it turns out.
#402 – Relayer by Yes
I was reminded today of the legendary Steve Howe’s role in my guitar journey. It was the combination of a few concert experiences that led me to take up the guitar at the age of 17, and I can’t imagine what my life would be without it. Yes has always been a mind-blowing band toContinue reading “#402 – Relayer by Yes”
