#1039 – Tinta Y Tiempo by Jorge Drexler
#1038 – Voyager by Fleece
Once again, to my great shame, I have fallen way behind in my posts. I still have not missed a day of listening since this blog started, but I’m going to need to do a big dump of posts with little or no comment to get back up to date. Time to clean the slate!
#1037 – Rowdy Boys by Devi Sri Prasad
Yesterday we went to a Holi party at some friends’ home. For the uninitiated, which I was until I got to the party, Holi is an Indian festival which celebrates the coming of spring by throwing handfuls of colorful powder at each other. I’m sure this is an offensive oversimplification of the event, but itContinue reading “#1037 – Rowdy Boys by Devi Sri Prasad”
#1036 – Night Mood by SBGB
I saw a video by this artist while having lunch at a fantastic Korean restaurant. It’s possible that the meal was just so good that I was trying to cling to any remaining part of the experience. Despite that probability, I really like the album.
#1035 – The Golden Pool by Upapayãma
I was surprised to learn that this artist is Italian, from a small mountain village outside Parma. From the instrumentation and general vibe of this album, I had assumed that they would’ve been from somewhere in Asia. This album, for example, features some cool material that is more reminiscent of some ofContinue reading “#1034 – January by Page McConnell & Trey Anastasio”
#1033 – The Madcap Laughs by Syd Barrett
Despite the fact that he was gone from Pink Floyd by the time they achieved their most prolific accomplishments, there is no denying that Syd was the founder of the feast, who brought together the elements that we all grew up listening to and loving. Just listening to some of his solo work really highlightsContinue reading “#1033 – The Madcap Laughs by Syd Barrett”
#1032 – COOKUP by Sam Gendel
This album is definitely not going to be for everyone, but what is? This guy makes some really cool, spacey saxophone-based jazz and is quite the prolific recording artist. He released an album on March 13, 2020 – the day the Covid lockdown started, in case that date didn’t land with you – and hasContinue reading “#1032 – COOKUP by Sam Gendel”
