If you’ve been following me recently, you’ll notice that I’ve been tending towards trippy, ambient soundscapes. This album falls neatly into that category. Sometimes an album comes along where the cover art perfectly represents the music contained within, and this is one of those. Does this look like an experience that you’ve had, or wouldContinue reading “#573 – Forward Escape by Tipper”

#572 – Music for Psychedelic Therapy by Jon Hopkins
This is a truly beautiful album. It was inspired by a trip to some caves the artist went to in Ecuador, and also features some recordings of ambient sounds he recorded while there. Even if you are not a psychedelic explorer, this is a great selection, but if you are, this has to be oneContinue reading “#572 – Music for Psychedelic Therapy by Jon Hopkins”
#571 – self-titled by Delta Spirit
Was anybody playing my guessing game from the other day? Did you get it right? Were my hints too subtle? I thought it would be fun, but I doubt anybody cares. Thanks for reading!
#570 – Invisible Girl by The King Khan & BBQ Show
This is another example of album art and band name drawing my attention.
#569 – War Elephant by Deer Tick
Another favorite channel for discovering artists, the daily Relix emails, brought me these guys in the form of a write-up of their recent tour with Delta Spirit. Can anybody guess the name of another artist to come in the next few days? I’ll give you a hint. Their name rhymes with “melt a beer tit.”Continue reading “#569 – War Elephant by Deer Tick”
#568 – Super Best by Adriano Celentano
I came across this artist as a result of a Reddit post about one of his songs which was apparently written to sound like an American, Bob Dylanesque rock song of that era. The lyrics are almost all gibberish, with the exception of the phrase “all right,” and are meant to sound like English toContinue reading “#568 – Super Best by Adriano Celentano”
#567 – Bad Blood by Bastille
I had listened to an album by these guys over the summer, but it seemed weird to have one of them at my Thanksgiving dinner and not subsequently listen to another of their albums. I’m not made of stone, after all.
#566 – Cerulean by Baths
This is a pretty cool electronic pop album that came on Spotify last night. I’ve been gravitating toward this kind of atmospheric, chill-out music a lot recently, and it really speaks to music’s power to affect your moods. It’s a wonderful side-effect that benefits me – and my family – daily.
#565 – This is the Day… by Pop Will Eat Itself
Probably not the greatest pick for a Thanksgiving album, but one of our guests brought up an awkward lunch meeting he had with a member of this group, so I had to check them out. Happy thanksgiving to all.
#564 – The Rainwater LP by Citizen Cope
At one point I considered a Citizen Cope show to be the worst concert I had ever attended. I should note that a good friend of mine was at the same show and it was her favorite show ever for a while. While I do believe that there is no accounting for taste, I haveContinue reading “#564 – The Rainwater LP by Citizen Cope”
