I haven’t really listened to Gorillaz much since their first couple of albums, so I don’t really know what I was expecting of them, but this surely wasn’t it. The array of guest performers, plus the varied styles of these songs made this album much more of an amorphous mish-mash than I was expecting. I thought they were more of a straight hip-hop act. What a welcome surprise.
