Time to get caught up on my backlog of posts. I apologize for the lapse, but I promise you I haven’t missed a day of listening. I’m just a couple weeks behind on the blog posts. So let’s just get up to date real quick, shall we?

#716 – self-titled by Ozomatli
#701 – Music Has The Right to Children by Boards of Canada
These guys are also not at Coachella, but I’ve really been appreciating their work for a while now and their particular brand of instrumental goodness was exactly what the doctor ordered for today.
#700 – Jubilee by Japanese Breakfast
This artist I haven’t seen yet, but will be seeing her next week at Coachella, so I’m sorta back on track now. Does it count as a milestone if you don’t notice that it’s happened?
#699 – Africa Avenue by The Paperhead
Of course I immediately break my own guideline and listen to an album from an artist that I have not seen at Coachella. I guess I’ll expand it to bands that I heard about at Coachella or from people who also work at Coachella. And I’ll just have to hope my memory improves slightly, soContinue reading “#699 – Africa Avenue by The Paperhead”
#698 – Treehouse by Sofi Tukker
As Coachella approaches, I’m going to be listening to albums by artists who I discovered at the festival. The first is Sofi Tukker. Not sure which year I first saw her but I vividly remember her “fuck you Donald Trump” song.
#697 – Hypnophobia by Jacco Gardner
I came across the name of this artist in a Reddit comment. I can’t remember the topic of said subreddit. Maybe r/popping? Wherever it came from, I really like this album.
#696 – Plastic Beach by Gorillaz
I haven’t really listened to Gorillaz much since their first couple of albums, so I don’t really know what I was expecting of them, but this surely wasn’t it. The array of guest performers, plus the varied styles of these songs made this album much more of an amorphous mish-mash than I was expecting. IContinue reading “#696 – Plastic Beach by Gorillaz”
#695 – Collapsed in Sunbeams by Arlo Parks
The Grammys were last night and, because I’m so out of touch with anything new, provided me with a lengthy to-do list of artists and albums. I’m not saying I’ve been having trouble picking from day to day, but it is great to have a preordained menu to choose from. Anyway, this is the firstContinue reading “#695 – Collapsed in Sunbeams by Arlo Parks”
#694 – Once Twice Melody by Beach House
More and more as time, and this blog, go on, I get recommendations for albums that I have already listened to. The interesting thing is how much that happens on the day or two following a particular selection. A more superstitious man would try to ascribe some kind of meaning to that.
