Here’s another band I had never heard anything from until I saw them at Coachella.

Time to get caught up on my backlog of posts. I apologize for the lapse, but I promise you I haven’t missed a day of listening. I’m just a couple weeks behind on the blog posts. So let’s just get up to date real quick, shall we?

These guys are also not at Coachella, but I’ve really been appreciating their work for a while now and their particular brand of instrumental goodness was exactly what the doctor ordered for today.

This artist I haven’t seen yet, but will be seeing her next week at Coachella, so I’m sorta back on track now. Does it count as a milestone if you don’t notice that it’s happened?

Of course I immediately break my own guideline and listen to an album from an artist that I have not seen at Coachella. I guess I’ll expand it to bands that I heard about at Coachella or from people who also work at Coachella. As Coachella approaches, I’m going to be listening to albums by artists who I discovered at the festival. The first is Sofi Tukker. Not sure which year I first saw her but I vividly remember her “fuck you Donald Trump” song.

I came across the name of this artist in a Reddit comment. I can’t remember the topic of said subreddit. Maybe r/popping? Wherever it came from, I really like this album.

I haven’t really listened to Gorillaz much since their first couple of albums, so I don’t really know what I was expecting of them, but this surely wasn’t it. The array of guest performers, plus the varied styles of these songs made this album much more of an amorphous mish-mash than I was expecting. IContinue reading “#696 – Plastic Beach by Gorillaz”
