Not sure how many more times I can attribute a daily selection to Spotify’s recommendations, but I can promise that this won’t be the last time. I’ll try to come up with something better to write, though, when I’m not always playing catch-up.

Rimsky-Korsakov came up in a story I was reading so I had to check out one of his prominent pieces. I’ve always enjoyed Russian composers and this gentleman is no exception.

Usually I check my old blog posts before I choose an album for the day. Today I did not, but since this is an amazing album by some indie rock legends, I guess it’s ok to repeat an artist.

Patti Smith has been performing recently and I read a really great review of her show at Royal Albert Hall. This led me to the discovery that I only know a few of her songs and had never heard a complete album of hers.

Still being influenced, if only tangentially, by that Tom Morello list. This album came up on Spotify after The Atlas Underground album ended.

The creative force behind Bright Eyes is not who I would expect to find on a top 5 album list by Tom Morello, but here it is. I really love to hear about the diverse listening habits of people that I am a fan of.

One of the albums on the Tom Morello list mentioned yesterday was an EP by Knife Party. This artist is who inspired Him to pursue a project involving collaborations with some EDM and hip hop heavy hitters. The result is this album, which is super entertaining. I certainly hope he does more collaborations like these.

I read an interview with Tom Morello about his 5 essential albums. I had only heard two of them, so it’s time to get caught up on music that he loves.

This album is a blend of psychedelic indie rock, folk and country. The music of genre-defying artists is often among the more interesting work being released and this is no exception.
