This album is a blend of psychedelic indie rock, folk and country. The music of genre-defying artists is often among the more interesting work being released and this is no exception. The best, most groundbreaking music out there is released by artists on their own terms, and the industry decides what genre they think best describes it. However, there are always those who cannot be neatly placed into a certain category. These are the ones who push music forward. I’m not saying Susto is necessarily a high water mark or turning point in the industry, but they definitely don’t fit into a tidy little descriptor.
