The song “Energy” popped up via the Spotify algorithm and made me immediately put this one on the to-do list. Phish regularly cover this song, so I am very familiar with it, having no idea that it was a cover at all. Upon some mild inspection, I discovered, once again, that this is a band that I “should’ve” encountered by now. This is a very common experience in music fandom. A friend with similar tastes has their mind blown by the discovery that I was, until now, ignorant of such an amazing artist. For shame! How dare I? Better go get myself educated, so we can circle back to this conversation about my musical inferiority. Tell me that doesn’t sound familiar.
