There have been quite a few incarnations of this collection of funk gods over the years. Just last week, we listened to the first solo album by their legendary bassist, Bootsy Collins. I have been fortunate enough to experience their fantastic live show way back when I was in college. I drove with some friends down from Boston to Providence, Rhode Island’s Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel, a small club venue. As well as assisting a friend with his forcible removal from student housing at Brown University, we had quite the evening out on the town, punctuated by an almost five hour long, nonstop set by George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic. You know its been a long show when you end up completely sober and exhausted from dancing/standing for so long.
