#263 – Folk Songs of the American Longhair by Brother Dege

I first became aware of Brother Dege when his song “Too Old to Die Young” was featured in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained.  The distinctive sound of a resonator guitar always evokes images of the American southeast, which Brother Dege embodies perfectly.  His music is equal parts folk and Delta blues.  There’s also a slight tinge of psychedelia which, if you’ve been following this blog, you might’ve noticed that I gravitate towards.  Everybody needs a little more phaser, chorus and delay on their guitars, if you ask me.  Nobody ever asks me.
