This recording is of some fantastic sessions where this trio of vaunted musicians got together to play some unrehearsed versions of classic folk songs, plus some charming banter between the three. It also features what is apparently the only recording of Jerry Garcia playing “Amazing Grace” which was requested by Tony Rice’s wife. It is called The Pizza Tapes because Garcia’s copy of the recordings was stolen, supposedly by a pizza delivery guy, and bootlegs started showing up in the lot at Grateful Dead shows.
