#112 – The Birthday Concert by Jaco Pastorius

One more jazz one and I’ll move on, at least for a little while.  The selection of the Pat Metheny album from a couple days ago came from an article about Jaco and the story behind his appearance on Bright Size Life.  On a week which has seen renewed demonstrations against yet another unwarranted police shooting of an unarmed black man – in front of his children – who had done nothing wrong and also the RNC’s lying Olympics, I have been looking forward to my daily selection more and more as both an escape and an injection of culture into the monotony of pandemic life.  This album was a perfect example of both, being not only a collection of incredible jazz performances but also a reminder of how great live music can be and hopefully will be again soon.  Obviously, I’m not holding my breath for that, but its fun to dream.
