
My sister was delighted to introduce me to this artist, and my wife and I started listening to WHOKILL as we sat down to dinner. No more than 20 seconds into the first song and we were both excited about it. This might be my new favorite artist. Alternately described as indie, pop and experimental, Tune-Yards sounds like so many different things mashed together, that classifying them seems like a pointless exercise. The instrumentation and production on this album are at least as interesting as the songs themselves, with excellent use of effects and lo-fi percussion throughout. It’s always fun hearing an act with non-traditional beats. Now, to spend the rest of the evening with other Tune-Yards albums…
