#9 – Turmoil & Tinfoil by Billy Strings

Billy Strings is a maniac on acoustic guitar.  He apparently played in some hard rock and metal bands when he was younger and you can definitely hear those influences in both his playing and even some of his lyrics.  The juxtaposition of violent, metal lyrics with bluegrass shredding is extremely entertaining and surprising at the same time and I loved it.  I’m not the biggest bluegrass or country fan out there, but guitar work of this quality is what I want to hear, no matter the genre.  If I were trying to sell a rock fan on the merits of bluegrass, this would be an excellent album to play for them.
