I worked on a show today where George Clinton was one of the guests. It was his 80th birthday, so I couldn’t help but imagine why it would be like to have him as your grandfather.

#440 – Dither by moe.
Over the past few years I’ve gotten more and more into the jam band scene, which has led me to check out many artists that I have long been aware of. In this case, I have friends from as far back as college and high school who have been obsessed with moe. for as longContinue reading “#440 – Dither by moe.”
#439 – Bloom by JIRM
I’ve been slipping a lot lately, both in my once diligent posting habits and in my commitment to choosing artists from around the world. I’m not going to pretend that that’s why I picked this one, because I didn’t realize that they were Swedish until afterwards. Nonetheless, it will hopefully serve as yet another opportunityContinue reading “#439 – Bloom by JIRM”
#438 – Color Wheel by Aqueous
Someone sent me a video of these guys’ set from the Peach Festival and I had to check out an album. Another entry for my live music to-do list.
#437 – L’Invitation by Freedom Fry
It’s so great to get an album recommendation first thing in the morning. That’s probably been the best side effect of this project. #436 – Our Two Skins by Gordi

#435 – Grateful Deadication by Dave McMurray
Two cover albums in a row?! What has become of this once noble blog project? This is a brand new release by jazz saxophonist Dave McMurray, and the appeal of jazzy Dead covers was to great for me to resist. Featured here are some excellent reimaginings of some of my favorite songs in the GratefulContinue reading “#435 – Grateful Deadication by Dave McMurray”
#434 – Kindred Spirits by Larkin Poe
If you’ve been following this blog, you know how I feel about putting covers on your album. To recap, unless you’re doing something new and interesting and making the song your own, I think it should be avoided. This album is all covers and I generally approve. Anybody that can play slide slide guitar theContinue reading “#434 – Kindred Spirits by Larkin Poe”
#433 – Anyway by May Erlewine and the Woody Goss Band
#432 – self-titled by Mutant Scum
This is a great metal album with a fun theme. They kind of remind me of Gwar. I was alerted to their existence when someone forwarded they video for the song “Rise and Slime.”
