A song from this album popped up on a Spotify playlist and I immediately knew I would be listening to the rest of this album.

This artist’s obviously prestigious pedigree pretty much guaranteed the success of her musical career. Her father was sitar legend Ravi Shankar. She is a sitar prodigy who has been performing professionally since she was a child, but beyond this, her compositions are really amazing works.

While searching for more Asian artists for the blog, I discovered these guys. They are a fantastic psych/folk band from the ‘60s with a really cool sound. No idea where this selection came from, but I really enjoyed it.

This was a great recommendation from a close friend. I always go way too long in between classical selections for this project.

I read an article about these guys and their upcoming album, which features performances by the late Kofi Burbridge. Having never heard of them before, I wanted to familiarize myself with them ahead of this release.

This one was recommended to me by a friend and one of this blog’s first followers. It is mostly covers, which I normally stay away from for my daily selections, but the “Lovely Day/Good As Hell Mashup” is so good that I had to go through the full album.

This album was on a desert island albums list from some interview that I read the other day, along with album #500, from just two days ago.
