This is a great album by a great rock band. I’ve just learned that they’re playing one of my favorite venues when they come through LA, so I’ll have to check that out. So nice to have things to look forward to again.

#647 – Pang by Caroline Polachek
When I was younger, I did not respect the world of pop music. I always thought it was so commercial and bland, which is a super closed-minded attitude. Now that I’ve put the effort in, I’m regularly discovering incredible artists that fall into that category. It’s been quite the surprising discovery, but one that I’mContinue reading “#647 – Pang by Caroline Polachek”
#646 – Utopia by Björk
I saw Björk a few weeks ago and it was one of the greatest concert experiences of my life. She is yet another artist that has been around for my entire adult life who I have only ever been peripherally aware of, and now it feels like I’ve been missing out. If you ever getContinue reading “#646 – Utopia by Björk”
#645 – Chapter of the Forest by Trevor Hall
From the look of this guy, I assumed he would be playing some trustafarian reggae. There definitely is a bit of that in his catalog, but this specific album has much more of a folky feel, which I really enjoyed.
#644 – Untourable Album by Men I Trust
I don’t think I would call this album truly untourable. I would imagine it’s because of the programmed drums that they use, but it would be fun to see them perform this material with any instrumentation.
#643 – It Takes A Thief by Thievery Corporation
Perhaps you recall a few posts back when I referenced a list of artists that people recommended for psychedelic experiences. Nowhere is it more clear how important personal taste is than in such a situation. You want to have the correct set and setting for your experience, and to me, this is not the moodContinue reading “#643 – It Takes A Thief by Thievery Corporation”
#642 – Sympathy for Life by Parquet Courts
Was it foolish of me to assume that this artist has a little bit of a basketball theme? What other kinds of parquet courts are there? Maybe racquetball or shuffleboard?
#641 – To The Islands by The Magic Lantern
This is a beautiful and melancholy album. Sometimes I put on an album and it immediately clicks with me. The Magic Lantern is one of these. I also kinda just like the nerdy imagery that their name evokes for me.
#640 – Sidelines by Wild Rivers
Another Relix Daily 7 new release. I wish I had more to say today, but my backlog of album posts really has me slogging through right now.
#639 – My People by Cha Wa
America has some uniquely musical cities, each with a distinct, specific flavor. One of the most fun ones is New Orleans, a city so intertwined with the local musical traditions that you can’t imagine being there without being surrounded by jazz. These guys are part of the new guard of the Big Easy musical tradition.
