There are only a handful of artists that I have listened to since this project began that I have gone back for more. They now have the distinction of being the only one with three albums, though as soon as they release more music Sigur Ros will definitely join them.

#778 – The Glow, Part 2 by The Microphones
I love the Spotify feature “people also like” in an artist’s profile. This is how I find a lot of my album selections. When I discover one band that I like, quite often their contemporaries are also right up my alley. These guys popped up when I searched for Neutral Milk Hotel, who are oneContinue reading “#778 – The Glow, Part 2 by The Microphones”
#777 – Skiptracing by Mild High Club
If I was a superstitious person, or given to believing in numerology, I would probably assign some degree of importance to my selection on a day like this. But I’m not, so I don’t. Instead, here’s another new album that I thoroughly enjoyed.
#776 – Their Satanic Majesties’ Second Request by The Brian Jonestown Massacre
I learned about this band about 15 years ago when they were featured in a documentary about them and their friends The Dandy Warhols. I thought at the time that TBJM was the superior band, at least according to my taste at the time, but were not able to achieve the same success due toContinue reading “#776 – Their Satanic Majesties’ Second Request by The Brian Jonestown Massacre”
#775 – Ibn El Leila by Mashrou’ Leila
I came upon this album in an article about LGBTQ+ artists in the Middle East. They were forced to flee their homeland due to the dangers of living their lives openly. Just one more reason for me to dislike religion in all its forms.
#774 – This Sceptered Veil by Sergeant Thunderhoof
I love a good unsolicited recommendation. Especially when it’s a solid British metal band. I can never get enough of those.
#773 – Ochugen Maywa Denki by Maywa Denki
I got an Otamatone, a novelty musical instrument, for Father’s Day. It is an extremely fun thing to mess around with, so I wanted to see what else that company makes. The inventor is also part of the musical collective responsible for today’s selection.
#772 – Gold Rush Kid by George Ezra
#771 – 11:11 by Pinegrove
This album feels like it could’ve been written in the late ‘90s. Some of these songs would be perfect in the closing credits of an episode of Dawson’s Creek.
#770 – Harry’s House by Harry Styles
Harry Styles’ previous album was excellent, and surprised me with how much I liked it. I also just saw him at Coachella, which was an excellent performance. So it should come as no surprise that his latest offering is just as impactful. I’m fairly obsessed with the song Boyfriends, too.
