This Swedish act has been putting out great psychedelic rock for over 20 years now, and I’ve been really enjoying their whole catalog. I thought I had discovered something to introduce to one of my more friends with well-rounded musical tastes, but of course he was already familiar.

#948 – Autofiction by The London Suede
This band, also formerly known as just Suede, originally gained notoriety as one of the “big four” of early 90s Britpop, along with Oasis, Blur and Pulp. Those are some heavy hitters to be mentioned in the same sentence as, and it certainly seems like that was well-deserved. They also apparently took part in aContinue reading “#948 – Autofiction by The London Suede”
#947 – There’s Nothing Wrong With Love by Built to Spill
I thought I was somewhat well-versed in the music of the 90s, but time and again I have artists brought to my attention that further highlight just how narrow my frame of reference was at that time. Who knows how differently my musical experience could have been if I had delved into the indie sceneContinue reading “#947 – There’s Nothing Wrong With Love by Built to Spill”
#946 – The Last Days of Gravity by Younger Brother
Younger Brother always comes up in Reddit conversations about what people’s favorite music is for various psychedelic experiences. Considering they are made up of two prolific experimental artists from that scene, it comes as no surprise. These guys’ trippy credentials are beyond reproach.
#945 – Rituals by Shapeshifter
This band from New Zealand sounds like their performances would involve a laptop full of tracks that they work around, but in fact they pride themselves on playing all of the parts live. An unusual feat for artists in this genre.
#944 – Old Time Radio by Joey Pecoraro
I’m always curious to see artist bios on Spotify. They can be anything from copypasta from their Wikipedia page or promotional materials to some very brief and/or tongue-in-cheek introductions by the artist themselves. In this case: “Joey is a guy from Michigan who makes music for your emotions:)”
#943 – At.Long.Last.A$AP by A$AP Rocky
This artist was the performer of the week on a show that I’ve been working on. His set included some combinations of very high and not-so-high production values. It’s very entertaining to see someone create a very detailed aesthetic to their stage but at the same time train some rough-around-the-edges dancers with their steps onlyContinue reading “#943 – At.Long.Last.A$AP by A$AP Rocky”
#942 – PRE PLEASURE by Julia Jacklin
I keep finding myself drawn to Australian artists of all genres recently, for whatever reason. There seems to be a great music scene down there with a really cool indie vibe. That’s not the primary reason that I want to go there, but it certainly adds to the allure.
#941 – Songbook by The Lazy Eyes
I love a good Spotify recommendation. A track from this album came up after I finished the Big Thief album from yesterday. I feel like I proclaim my love for Spotify pretty regularly, but just wanted to be clear that I’m not paid to recommend their product, but I’d be happy to do so, ifContinue reading “#941 – Songbook by The Lazy Eyes”
#940 – Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You by Big Thief
This album came up on a best of 2022 list and I am definitely a fan. Their tour only has east coast dates remaining, unfortunately.
