I’m not gonna lie, these guys are not exactly my cup of tea, but even with that caveat, this is still a pretty entertaining album.

#968 – Magma by Gojira
I was listening to the metal opus that is Slayer’s Seasons in the Abyss and realized that it had been a while since I selected a good heavy album. I’ve heard of these guys before and always assumed that they were Japanese because of their name. Nope, French. Metal is one of the few genresContinue reading “#968 – Magma by Gojira”
#967 – Was Dead by King Tuff
This artist really embodies the spirit of garage rock, with much of his catalog being self-produced in a modest home studio and able to be performed in a solo acoustic setting.
#966 – Udne Do by Chaar Hazaari
I’ve been getting lazy recently about the variety of genres that I’ve been selecting, so I’m going to be picking a lot more from other parts of the world that have been underrepresented. Today’s is from an Indian pop-rock artist.
#965 – Never Odd or Even by Dopapod
These guys are a fixture of the jam band scene at this point, and have been recommended to me repeatedly by some of my more hippie-ish friends. Seems like it’s about time to dip my toe in.
#964 – With Gusto by Eggy
As we get further into the legendary Phish New Years run at Madison Square Garden, it’s always fun to hear people’a reports about what the scene around that area is like. Every place they play is different and lends themselves to a variety of local amenities. Being that this is in NYC, there is theContinue reading “#964 – With Gusto by Eggy”
#963 – Try and Love by Ofege
One of the regions that I keep going back to for new music is in various places in Africa. I’ve always had good luck finding cool stuff in the Afro Psych scene, which is not too much different from their western counterparts of the time when this was released (1973).
#962 – My Truth by Robyn
The Grouplove album that I listened to the other day came about because of their excellent cover of Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own.” And after reading a bit about her catalog, I had to take a closer look at some of her material once I realized I really only knew that one song.
#961 – From The Bayou by Youngboy Never Broke Again & Birdman
Ever since I listened to a Lil’ Wayne album a few weeks ago, I’ve been working my way through a bunch of material from artists that he is associated with in some way. Birdman is the stage name of powerhouse producer and Cash Money Records CEO Bryan Williams who is an extremely influential figure inContinue reading “#961 – From The Bayou by Youngboy Never Broke Again & Birdman”
#960 – Summer Songs by Library Tapes
Every so often I wait until late in the day to listen to an album. I prefer to get it out of the way early in the day to get a feeling of accomplishment coming out of my mornings, but it doesn’t always work out that way. When that happens, the selection will be moreContinue reading “#960 – Summer Songs by Library Tapes”
