One of my favorite things about diving into genres that I don’t know well is the discovery of artists and sub-genres that I didn’t know existed. The world of hip-hop is one of these, where I am constantly learning about how little I know.

#970 – Hysteria by Indigo Sparke
Back to one of my old go-to album selection routes: the Relix Daily 7 email. It always provides a nice mix of news about artists that I care about and some introductions to some that I very often come to care about.

I’m not gonna lie, these guys are not exactly my cup of tea, but even with that caveat, this is still a pretty entertaining album.
#968 – Magma by Gojira
I was listening to the metal opus that is Slayer’s Seasons in the Abyss and realized that it had been a while since I selected a good heavy album. Every place they play is different and lends themselves to a variety of local amenities. Being that this is in NYC, there is theContinue reading “#964 – With Gusto by Eggy”
#963 – Try and Love by Ofege
One of the regions that I keep going back to for new music is in various places in Africa. I’ve always had good luck finding cool stuff in the Afro Psych scene, which is not too much different from their western counterparts of the time when this was released (1973).
#962 – My Truth by Robyn
The Grouplove album that I listened to the other day came about because of their excellent cover of Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own.” And after reading a bit about her catalog, I had to take a closer look at some of her material once I realized I really only knew that one song.
