Still being influenced, if only tangentially, by that Tom Morello list. This album came up on Spotify after The Atlas Underground album ended.

#515 – Ruminations by Conor Oberst
The creative force behind Bright Eyes is not who I would expect to find on a top 5 album list by Tom Morello, but here it is. I really love to hear about the diverse listening habits of people that I am a fan of.
#514 – The Atlas Underground by Tom Morello
One of the albums on the Tom Morello list mentioned yesterday was an EP by Knife Party. This artist is who inspired Him to pursue a project involving collaborations with some EDM and hip hop heavy hitters. The result is this album, which is super entertaining. I certainly hope he does more collaborations like these.
#513 – Peter Gabriel 3: Melt by Peter Gabriel
I read an interview with Tom Morello about his 5 essential albums. I had only heard two of them, so it’s time to get caught up on music that he loves.
#512 – & I’m Fine Today by Susto
This album is a blend of psychedelic indie rock, folk and country. The music of genre-defying artists is often among the more interesting work being released and this is no exception. The best, most groundbreaking music out there is released by artists on their own terms, and the industry decides what genre they think bestContinue reading “#512 – & I’m Fine Today by Susto”
#511 – american dream by LCD Soundsystem
I read recently about a new LCD Soundsystem album coming soon, so I wanted to catch up on the rest of their catalog. This was the previous release, from 2017, which was when they last toured and headlined many major festivals. Because of a company that I was working for at the time, I endedContinue reading “#511 – american dream by LCD Soundsystem”
#510 – Headsoup by Goat
A song from this album popped up on a Spotify playlist and I immediately knew I would be listening to the rest of this album.
#509 – Rise by Anoushka Shankar
This artist’s obviously prestigious pedigree pretty much guaranteed the success of her musical career. Her father was sitar legend Ravi Shankar. She is a sitar prodigy who has been performing professionally since she was a child, but beyond this, her compositions are really amazing works.
#508 – Harench by The Folk Crusaders
While searching for more Asian artists for the blog, I discovered these guys. They are a fantastic psych/folk band from the ‘60s with a really cool sound. When music from that era is discussed, it is usually in reference to American or European artists, but this one made me want to check out more musicContinue reading “#508 – Harench by The Folk Crusaders”
#507 – Cookbook by John Andrews and The Yawns
No idea where this selection came from, but I really enjoyed it.
