If you’re into the jam band scene at all, these guys should be right up your alley. They’ve been around since the early 1990s, perhaps not fully active all of that time, but still producing new music with regularity.

This was yet another of Jerry Garcia’s side projects that he played with for a time in the 1970s. I read an article about this band that featured an interview with their drummer, whose other gig was playing in Elvis Priestly’s band. Such an interesting cross section of professional music that he was straddling.

A friend of mine posted about seeing this artist open for Tool at one of their recent shows and loving them. These guys are similar to a bunch of my favorite artists, so it’s surprising that it took me this long to check them out. Some nice mellow indie/bluegrassy vibes.

I heard about these guys from a Spin article about how they were the only non-hip hop act at some festival and absolutely blew the crowd away. Their sound is classic hardcore that reminds me of high school. Also, this album has been suggested to me by 3 people since I listened to it.

I now find myself in the awkward position of being so far behind in my posts that I have to relisten to some of my selections to refresh my memory. These guys are an electronic supergroup of sorts, featuring Shpongle’s Simon Posford and Benji Vaughn of Prometheus. True trippy edm royalty.

Always good to get in some good, stony metal. These guys sound like they could’ve been around in the ‘70s, opening for Black Sabbath. The singer even sounds a bit like Ozzy.

This is the latest release from the estate of Owsley “Bear” Stanley, famed Grateful Dead audio engineer and prolific LSD manufacturer. I got about halfway through this album before I noticed what the title is. I don’t want my friend Emily to think that this selection is a jab at her, but even if she does, I think her beef is really with joe p and not me.
