There are few artists, and indeed few people in general, who have had such a productive pandemic as this man. This marks his 4th release since lockdown started. While it is technically true that one of those was a live album recorded on the tour leading up to Covid, I’m still going to count itContinue reading “#672 – Mercy by Trey Anastasio”

#671 – self-titled by Superorganism
For the next couple of days, I’m working at the Director’s Guild Awards. It’s a funny kind of show, where prominent members of a powerful union get together to jack each other off (metaphorically, for the most part) in the ballroom of a luxury hotel. #670 – self-titled by Peyote Sunshine
Well this is a first for this blog. This artist started following me while at the same time recommending that I check out his album, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It’s a great psychedelic rock project. Thanks for the follow and suggestion!
#669 – Chisholm Trail by SUSS
These guys are another band who has created their own genre. If the term “ambient country” doesn’t make you wonder what they do, I don’t know what to tell you.
#668 – Goes West by William Tyler
The title of this album is perfect, as it evokes a road-trip through the American southwest. A great collection of folk/country instrumentals.
#667 – City Freak by Postman
One more representative of modern Ukrainian music. This guy is a folky singer-songwriter.
#666 – King of Everything by Jinjer
For my album #666 it seemed fitting to pick a metal band. This is another excellent Ukrainian artist with an impressive body of work.
#665 – The Oddfellows’ Hall by The Ocean Party
These guys are a prolific Australian indie rock band who managed to release more than one album per year between 2012 and 2018. Seems like they’re overdue for another one.
#664 – Family by Boombox
There are a lot of amazing stories about the heroism of average Ukrainian citizens. One article in particular caught my eye about Ukrainian musicians doing what they can to support the defense efforts. In this case, the members of this group have actually taken up arms to defend their homeland from foreign invaders.
#663 – These Are The Vistas by The Bad Plus
It’s always great to discover a new artist who makes jazzy instrumental music. Perfect mood music for a mellow dining experience.
