This is a beautiful and melancholy album. Sometimes I put on an album and it immediately clicks with me. The Magic Lantern is one of these. I also kinda just like the nerdy imagery that their name evokes for me.

#640 – Sidelines by Wild Rivers
Another Relix Daily 7 new release. I wish I had more to say today, but my backlog of album posts really has me slogging through right now.
#639 – My People by Cha Wa
America has some uniquely musical cities, each with a distinct, specific flavor. One of the most fun ones is New Orleans, a city so intertwined with the local musical traditions that you can’t imagine being there without being surrounded by jazz. These guys are part of the new guard of the Big Easy musical tradition.
#638 – Vives by Carlos Vives
My family has been obsessed with the new Disney movie, Encanto, myself included. It has some fantastic and catchy songs on it as well as great performers that I had never heard of, such as Carlos Vives.
#637 – Laurel Hell by Mitski
One of my favorite sources of albums is the Relix Daily 7 email. There’s always some good stuff on there, plus you can often learn about a new album on the day of its release, which I always enjoy.
#636 – Fragments, Live ‘74 and Last by Agitation Free
These guys are a jam band from West Berlin in the 1970s. If you like jammy music at all, or just rock music from that era, this is definitely worth a listen.
#635 – Everything is Wrong by Moby

It also makes me think about the time some idiots jumped Moby outside a Boston venue, recorded the assault and were later prosecuted as a resultContinue reading “#635 – Everything is Wrong by Moby”
#634 – Creature Comforts by Black Dice
Sometimes I happen upon a list of artists in my day-to-day browsing and can just spend the next couple of weeks picking through them. This selection came from a list of trippy music recommendations for psychedelic experiences. While I don’t necessarily agree that they all fit the bill, it just goes to show how differentContinue reading “#634 – Creature Comforts by Black Dice”
#633 – In Loving Memory Of by Big Wreck
These guys have a bit of that ‘90s feel that makes me nostalgic for younger, dumber times. Driving around in an old minivan, looking for an opportunity to kill some brain cells, blasting an Alice In Chains cassette. What more could a teenage me want?
#632 – The Weather by Pond
I needed a solid album to listen to on the way a Björk show this evening. Not only was this a pretty perfect album for the situation, right down to the perfect play time for the drive, but the show was one of the best concert-going experiences of my life. Quite the prolific evening, allContinue reading “#632 – The Weather by Pond”
