This is a beautiful and melancholy album. Sometimes I put on an album and it immediately clicks with me. The Magic Lantern is one of these. I also kinda just like the nerdy imagery that their name evokes for me.

Another Relix Daily 7 new release. I wish I had more to say today, but my backlog of album posts really has me slogging through right now.

America has some uniquely musical cities, each with a distinct, specific flavor. One of the most fun ones is New Orleans, a city so intertwined with the local musical traditions that you can’t imagine being there without being surrounded by jazz. These guys are part of the new guard of the Big Easy musical tradition.

My family has been obsessed with the new Disney movie, Encanto, myself included. It has some fantastic and catchy songs on it as well as great performers that I had never heard of, such as Carlos Vives.

One of my favorite sources of albums is the Relix Daily 7 email. There’s always some good stuff on there, plus you can often learn about a new album on the day of its release, which I always enjoy.

These guys are a jam band from West Berlin in the 1970s. If you like jammy music at all, or just rock music from that era, this is definitely worth a listen.

I’ve never listened to more than one track at a time from the extensive Moby catalog, which is kind of weird considering how into him some college friends were. These guys have a bit of that ‘90s feel that makes me nostalgic for younger, dumber times. Driving around in an old minivan, looking for an opportunity to kill some brain cells, blasting an Alice In Chains cassette. What more could a teenage me want?

I needed a solid album to listen to on the way a Björk show this evening. Not only was this a pretty perfect album for the situation, right down to the perfect play time for the drive, but the show was one of the best concert-going experiences of my life.
