Probably not the greatest pick for a Thanksgiving album, but one of our guests brought up an awkward lunch meeting he had with a member of this group, so I had to check them out. Happy thanksgiving to all.

#564 – The Rainwater LP by Citizen Cope
At one point I considered a Citizen Cope show to be the worst concert I had ever attended. I should note that a good friend of mine was at the same show and it was her favorite show ever for a while. #563 – Marigold by Pinegrove
Sometimes an interesting album cover is all it takes to pique my interest. That’s not alway the best way to pick, but this time it certainly paid off. You can tell right away when you’re adding the first song on the album to multiple playlists.
#562 – Spiral Staircase by Ralph McTell

#561 – Other Voices, Other Rooms by Nanci Griffith
An illustrious houseguest brought up this artist to me, incredulous that I had never heard of her. While that is always a favorite reaction to my perceived musical ignorance, it also often inspires me to listen, as it has here.
#560 – Sweat Kollecta’s Peanut Butter Traffik Jam by Traffik Island
I have no idea how I came across these guys, but between their album title and artwork, it immediately caught my attention. Pretty cool stuff.
#559 – Professional Rapper by Lil Dicky
I don’t think I’d describe this as a comedy album per se, but it is pretty funny. Some good material about explaining your rap career to your parents.
#558 – Evolution by Boyz II Men
I’ve been working on a TV holiday special that features, among others, these guys. Over lunch, I was made aware of the fact that Boyz II Men has never stopped performing and releasing music, which means that they have a ton of material that I’ve never heard.
