I just learned about the death of Chuck E. Weiss, who was an unusual singer/songwriter and LA scene-maker. As a contemporary of Tom Waits, it’s no surprise that Weiss’s music was a little odd, but equally interesting is his erratic pattern of releases, with some extremely long gaps in his creative productivity. He was also co-founder of the Rainbow Room, the rockstar watering hole of the Sunset Strip.
