The Rolling Stones’ legendary and iconic drummer, Charlie Watts, passed away this week, so I was looking at their catalog and marveling at the amount of music that they have produced over the years. Charlie was really a jazzman at heart, as one can see from his various side projects. It’s always fascinating to see what really successful artists choose to spend their time on, perhaps showing how people fall into their careers in unexpected ways. I saw The Rolling Stones live once, at Fenway Park in 2003 or 2004. It was a great show, but the most memorable part was a drunken fan trying to climb up the underside of the balcony from the right field grandstand and fall I got into the seating section below.
