I’m on vacation and don’t have enough time to get into all of my feelings about this particular perpetuation of the patriarchy, so I’ll just say this: Can we please let this poor pop superstar live her life? Can anyone out there imagine this happening to even the messiest male celebrity? Even Shia LeBoeuf is free to continue his reign of terror on the American experience. What does the Britney story say about the American legal system, and America itself? If someone as rich and famous as her is not free to make all of the mistakes she wants on her own behalf, how free are any of the rest of us?
