It’s been a running joke on the Simpsons – and plenty of other shows – that the Grammy awards are kind of a joke. The winners are obviously supremely talented and in no way am I suggesting that anyone does not deserve recognition for their accomplishments, but the political nature of the whole thing has never been on display quite as blatantly as they were at this year’s incarnation. The snub of The Weeknd, after his song “Blinding Lights” was in the Billboard top ten for over a year, is incredibly comical. That silliness aside, the nominee lists are a great way to discover new music, such as today’s selection.
