Many years ago, I used to listen to a good deal of hip-hop. If you have been following this blog, you have no doubt noticed that my listening habits demonstrate a dearth of diversity. I am certainly not unique in this regard, not that I’m trying to make excuses for it, or that it necessarily needs excusing. My listening habits are quite varied these days, and I have made a concerted effort to make it more so, but I can’t deny that I tend towards guitar-based artists. Now that I am purposefully spreading my attention around, I cant help but feel that my narrowness has robbed me of many years of enjoyment from genres that I never gave enough attention to. However, with the access that modern digital music collections affords us, there’s no time like the present to make up for lost time, with the assistance of more open minded friends.
