Tishoumaren, or desert blues, is a style of music originating in northern Africa. Imarhan is a desert blues quintet from Algeria. Their name means “the ones I care about,” and they have blended elements of modern pop and rock with traditional Tuareg and Pan-African music. They represent yet another new introduction of music from a region that I am not familiar with and really make me want to explore the music of Africa.
