Today is the 25th anniversary of the death of Jerry Garcia, so I spent much of my listening time today on Grateful Dead shows. I did, however, just pick a Jerry Garcia Band album on his birthday and don’t want to be repeating an artist at this point in the life of this blog. I was thinking about when I saw the Black Keys at the Glass House, a club venue in Pomona, CA. This was just after Attack & Release came out and shortly before they graduated to playing arenas and headlining festivals. The two members of this band, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, have written and produced a whole bunch of great music and are two of the most consistent people in the music industry. Auerbach’s first solo album, 2009’s Keep It Hid, was an obsession of mine for quite a while. Their music has such a distinctive feel, its no surprise other artists would want to be produced by him.
