Here we go! This is my first ever blog post, and I hope you will enjoy undertaking this project with me. I look at it not as an assignment to be completed, but as a little bit of self-care to help keep me sane in this trying time. Everyone has their own unique set of challenges that have been dumped in their lap, and I hope this becomes something that we can look forward to each day and come away with a little bit of joy to rally around.
The first selection is the newest album by Field Music, an English band comprised primarily of the Brewis brothers, David and Peter. I was introduced to them via their previous offering (Open Here, 2018) by my friend Alec of @seawardstudios. style suggests that they are fans of many of the classic bands that I was raised on, as their music alternately reminds me of The Talking Heads, Pink Floyd, The Beach Boys, of course, The Beatles, and more. Through all of this, they also maintain an indie feel. Indeed, the guitar work reminds me a lot of Wilco’s Nels Cline, who I have been obsessed with of late. This is their seventh studio album, and I am looking forward to exploring the rest of their catalog.
Thanks for reading and listening and please feel free to leave a comment to let me know what you think. First post complete!
