I discovered these guys on the tail end of a long day of travel. They’re a very entertaining blend of many different sounds and genres and are now high on my list of bands to see live as soon as possible.

#422 – Cozy Tapes, Volume 1: Friends by A$AP Mob
I’ve heard a lot of the solo work of the different members of this collective, but I just today learned about the late A$AP Yam, the producer of the Mob. His prolific career was cut short by another in the long string of accidental overdoses that have claimed so many members of the hip hopContinue reading “#422 – Cozy Tapes, Volume 1: Friends by A$AP Mob”
#421 – The Optimist by Cory Wong
Happened upon this album the other night and was pleasantly surprised by both how much I enjoyed it and how great the guitar work is. I’ll be taking a deeper dive into the Cory Wong catalog in the coming weeks.
#420 – Stars and Stripes by SOJA
I haven’t listened to a new reggae artist in quite a while, so it was nice to discover these guys. They are about halfway between reggae and rock, so the seem like they’d be a bit more approachable to those who are not traditionally reggae fans.
#419 – Wild World by Bastille
I picked this album for today because I found a CD copy of it in my Mom’s car, which I was borrowing for a little day trip. I’m not sure that CDs are still in wide enough use to make many daily selections this way, but it might be a fun little detour for aContinue reading “#419 – Wild World by Bastille”
#418 – self-titled by Organ Freeman
One of my go-to Spotify playlists right now is called Instrumental Funk. I discover a great many of my daily selections through Spotify, either through playlists or suggested artists. I hope my musician friends can forgive my appreciation for the streaming music conglomerate.
#417 – Do Easy by Tasseomancy
I can’t say for certain, but I’m pretty sure this is the first band I’ve listened to that features Canadian twin sisters. Not sure if that adds anything to the experience for anybody, but I’m kinda phoning it in with my posts this week so I’m latching on to any detail that seems even mildlyContinue reading “#417 – Do Easy by Tasseomancy”
#416 – For Emma, Forever Ago by Bon Iver
#415 – Solos, Sessions & Encores by Stevie Ray Vaughan
I always circle back to SRV from time to time as he was such a unique presence in the blues scene and was one of the guitarists who inspired me to take up the guitar.
#414 – Easy Way by The Cactus Blossoms
This album was the perfect mood to break up a mildly torturous day of driving with 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 year olds. A little bit of country, a little indie rock and bit of a mellow vibe really hit the spot.
