This artist’s obviously prestigious pedigree pretty much guaranteed the success of her musical career. Her father was sitar legend Ravi Shankar. She is a sitar prodigy who has been performing professionally since she was a child, but beyond this, her compositions are really amazing works.

While searching for more Asian artists for the blog, I discovered these guys. They are a fantastic psych/folk band from the ‘60s with a really cool sound. This was a great recommendation from a close friend. I always go way too long in between classical selections for this project.

I read an article about these guys and their upcoming album, which features performances by the late Kofi Burbridge. Having never heard of them before, I wanted to familiarize myself with them ahead of this release.

This one was recommended to me by a friend and one of this blog’s first followers. It is mostly covers, which I normally stay away from for my daily selections, but the “Lovely Day/Good As Hell Mashup” is so good that I had to go through the full album.

These guys keep popping up in playlists that I’ve been perusing, so it was only a matter of time before I got to one of their albums. They’re a glorious blend of bluegrass and jammy indie rock, blended gloriously for your enjoyment.
