I met a new co-worker the other day who turned out to be quite like-minded in many ways, one of which being a love for live music. He suggested quite a few, extremely varied artists to me, which is my favorite way to pick the daily selection. The next week or so will be pepperedContinue reading “#621 – Lovers and Leavers by Hayes Carll”

#620 – On All Fours by Goat Girl
This all-female quarter from London blends electro-pop with an indie rock feel for quite the entertaining effect. I will definitely be following them with great interest. Hopefully they do a US tour soon.
#619 – 8 by Incubus
It’s been years since I’ve listened to Incubus. There was a time when I was obsessed with these guys, but for whatever reason, my attention strayed elsewhere for quite some time. A song from this album popped up on Spotify the other day and I was surprised to see how recently it was released andContinue reading “#619 – 8 by Incubus”
#618 – Odyssey Number Five by Powderfinger
Yesterday’s selection led me to these guys, another classic Aussie band.
#617 – Wisenheimer by Custard
My kids are currently obsessed with an Australian cartoon show about a family of dogs, called Bluey. The man who voices Bluey’s dad is Dave McCormack, the frontman of Custard. These guys are an indie band from the ‘90s with a bit of a cult following who have seen a resurgence when they started releasingContinue reading “#617 – Wisenheimer by Custard”
#616 – Futures by Jimmy Eat World
I was only familiar with one, very poppy era of this band’s music, but after having dinner with some friends who have seen them relatively recently, I’ve delved further into their catalog. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked some of their later albums. It just goes to show youContinue reading “#616 – Futures by Jimmy Eat World”
#615 – Welcome to the Family, Baby by The Big Wu
If you’re into the jam band scene at all, these guys should be right up your alley. They’ve been around since the early 1990s, perhaps not fully active all of that time, but still producing new music with regularity.
#614 -December 14-15, 1974 Northwest Tour by Legion of Mary
This was yet another of Jerry Garcia’s side projects that he played with for a time in the 1970s. I read an article about this band that featured an interview with their drummer, whose other gig was playing in Elvis Priestly’s band. Such an interesting cross section of professional music that he was straddling.
#613 – Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons by Blonde Redhead
A friend of mine posted about seeing this artist open for Tool at one of their recent shows and loving them. Since Tool is pretty high on my list of bands that I need to see live, whoever opens up for them will get my attention, if only for a moment. Then I was pleasantlyContinue reading “#613 – Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons by Blonde Redhead”
#612 – Strange Trails by Lord Huron
These guys are similar to a bunch of my favorite artists, so it’s surprising that it took me this long to check them out. Some nice mellow indie/bluegrassy vibes.
