Finally, a nice breakup album that’s not by Taylor Swift!

I love a good instrumental band, displaying their virtuosity instead of trying to write lyrics. Nothing is right for everyone, as I’ve become annoyingly fond of saying, so an artist staying in their lane and doing what they do best always shines through for me.

My Dad and brother saw these guys in Boston last night, were raving about the show and sent me the new album to check out, and it is indeed a very solid offering by people with a long history of solid offerings.

Supposedly, this will be the last album Donald Glover will put out as Childish Gambino, and if that’s the case, he’s retiring that persona in the strongest way possible. Not everybody has to commit to a single genre (though most do) and that exploratory energy is on full display here.
