Not sure how I came across this one, but it’s pretty fun. It features some really cool combinations of guitar parts with break beats and lyrics that are kinda violent, clever, and funny at the same time. If this is what the kids are into these days, I’m into it.

#198 – Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes by TV On The Radio
Up next in my list of bands that I never gave a chance to because someone was too insistent…
#197 – Good News For People Who Love Bad News by Modest Mouse
My selections have been going this way organically, so it seems right to lean into it. There have been many artists over the years that I have chosen not to listen to purely because friends have been so obsessed and insistent. It’s petty, I know, and the stupid thing is that I frequently end upContinue reading “#197 – Good News For People Who Love Bad News by Modest Mouse”
#196 – Jurassic Technologie by Pr0files
I hope everybody out there is staying safe and taking the recommended precautions. In many ways, it feels like America is perched at the edge of a cliff with quite a few options for how to get pushed over. This may well prove to be the most disastrous Thanksgiving ever, as a significant amount ofContinue reading “#196 – Jurassic Technologie by Pr0files”
#195 – Metamodern Sounds In Country Music by Sturgill Simpson
I keep gravitating towards certain genres and have really ignored others. Country has always been underrepresented here and in my listening habits, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t occasionally find something that I can appreciate. I also find Sturgill Simpson’s story very interesting, as he decided to seriously pursue a career in music inContinue reading “#195 – Metamodern Sounds In Country Music by Sturgill Simpson”
194 – Pretty Girls Like Trap Music by 2 Chainz
I was listening to the new Kanye single today, which features 2 Chainz and DaBaby, and realized 2 Chainz was overdue for an appearance on NAAD. Also, “Nah Nah Nah” is a solid track. It’s amazing that Kanye can produce music while running a presidential campaign.
#193 – The Aftermath: Ascension by Coheed and Cambria
I’ve know many people who have recommended Coheed and Cambria to me over the years, some of them legitimately obsessed. It was never really my cup of tea, though I do appreciate the guitar work. Someone whose musical tastes I generally appreciate sent me a single from the second part of this double album, theContinue reading “#193 – The Aftermath: Ascension by Coheed and Cambria”
#192 – Hot Pink by Doja Cat
Another close call…
191 – The Joy of Music, The Job of Real Estate by Vulfpeck
Today’s album came to me in my favorite way. I was driving to work when a friend texted to ask if I had heard it, so I put it in my queue for the drive home. This is the true life blood of this blog. Gives me the feels.
#190 – Sinfonietta by Leoš Janáček, Leon Botstein and The American Symphony Orchestra
I became aware of this piece because it was featured in the Haruki Murakami novel, 1Q84. If you’ve never read any Murakami, I would highly recommend giving him a shot. There are few literary minds that way his does, while interweaving iconic bits of world culture that almost become characters themselves. If that wasn’t aContinue reading “#190 – Sinfonietta by Leoš Janáček, Leon Botstein and The American Symphony Orchestra”
