The song “My Lady’s on Fire” was on one of my go-to pandemic playlists, so it seemed only fitting to listen to the remainder of that album. Of course, I didn’t bother checking to see if I had already listened to an album of his.

#454 – Feel The Music by Paul Johnson
Unfortunately, I frequently discover artists when I read a news story about their, often untimely, death. This one is an early album by one of the legends of the house music scene. I’ve made no secret of the fact that I don’t know very much about the dance music world, so it should be noContinue reading “#454 – Feel The Music by Paul Johnson”
#453 – Quantum Leap by Dumbo Gets Mad
Here’s another great psychedelic rock album that came my way via the Spotify algorithm. For a genre that I never really explored much until the past few years, I now spend a whole lot of time in it.
#452 – The Color of You by Alina Baraz
A while back I listened to a collaboration between this artist and the producer/DJ Galimatias. It is an excellent album and one of the selections from this project that I have revisited the most. Although I’m trying not to repeat artists if possible, this one was good enough that I wanted to hear what theirContinue reading “#452 – The Color of You by Alina Baraz”
#451 – Folk Time by Hart Valley Drifters
Yesterday was Jerry Garcia’s birthday, so there were a bunch of articles paying tribute to different aspects of his career. This album is supposed to be one of the earliest known recordings of Jerry.
#450 – The NIGHTDAY by ZHU
One of the genres that I am mournfully poorly-versed in is Dance, so it works to my advantage that I know quite a few people that love that scene.
#449 – The Two of Us by Yarbrough & Peeples
A friend of mine recommended that I check out this artist. He has known them for years from doing session work with them while in the Dallas music scene. I enjoyed this one thoroughly and will be checking them out when they come through on their big, post-Covid tour.
#448 – The Lost Album by The Meteors
Just read an article about the rise of the “psychobilly” genre and had to do a little dive into that world.
#447 – Opening Night by Kevin Eubanks
This selection is by the co-host of the show I was working on today. Most people know Kevin Eubanks as Jay Leno’s band leader from the Tonight Show, but if you’re a jazz guitar fan you’re probably just as familiar with his long and virtuosic album catalog.
#446 – self-titled by Drakkar Nowhere
Can somebody make a recommendation for me? I seem to be stuck in this loop of modern psychedelia. I’m not complaining; I’ve enjoyed everything that I’ve heard recently. However, this blog is supposed to be as diverse and varied as possible and I keep getting lazy with my selections, not to mention with my postingContinue reading “#446 – self-titled by Drakkar Nowhere”
