I had meant to keep listening to more albums by artists called Khan (there’s a bunch), but yesterday’s news of the passing of the legendary Bob Weir made me have to change course. I was only 12 when Jerry died, so I never had the chance to see the Grateful Dead, but the opportunities that I had to see Further and Dead & Company have provided some profound experiences and a little window into what those old shows must’ve felt like. Bobby embodied that connection as the torch-bearer of an incredible musical tradition that now must live on through those who keep the music alive. I was fortunate enough to be at the last two GD60 shows and which we now know was the end of something, but I know the torch will be passed and the many people whose lives he touched will do what they can to honor the Dead legacy for many, many years to come. Thanks for everything, good sir. NFA.
