I started listening to Sturgill Simpson after he was a guest on a TV show I worked on and some of his stories really resonated with me. That said, I’m not exactly a super fan, as demonstrated by the fact that I was not aware of his health troubles and departure from the music industry for the past few years. This album marks his return, under a new name but with the the same high musical standards of his past works.
