After a little interlude of way different energy than the artists on @somewhere_soul’s video that I’ve been working my way through, let’s get back to it. Completing tasks and accomplishing goals is my new thing, and every little bit helps.

#1300 – Veracity by BackWordz
For my latest milestone, I am taking my first ever suggestion from a Reddit comment, from u/HearthstoneExSemiPro. Of course, their comment was on the first album I’ve posted on Reddit, but that just makes me hopeful for some more engagement with the music heads of the internet. This is a pretty cool rap/metal album thatContinue reading “#1300 – Veracity by BackWordz”
#1299 – Spirits by The Circling Sun
I always like to come across any album with a space-themed title or band name. It bodes well for the possibility of some ethereal, instrumental mood music of some kind. In this case, it’s something of a jazz supergroup from New Zealand with a debut album that sounds like they could’ve been together for manyContinue reading “#1299 – Spirits by The Circling Sun”
#1298 – Memento Mori by Depeche Mode
I like to think I’m somewhat up on what’s going on in the music world. Taking into account my specific tastes and perspective, I definitely try to listen to as large and as diverse a selection as I can. But the other day I was sent a reality check by a friend in the formContinue reading “#1298 – Memento Mori by Depeche Mode”
#1297 – self-titled by Psyché
Back to the @somewhere_soul recommendation list. I got distracted by a legend yesterday, but now I’m back on the trail, and planning to get through at least the eight albums from this guy’s IG post from last week.
#1296 – i/o by Peter Gabriel
This is the latest release by one of the most prolific living recording artists out there. His career is now well into its fifth decade and he doesn’t seem like he’s anywhere near done yet. If you’re not familiar with the many amazing Genesis albums, do yourself a favor and set aside some time toContinue reading “#1296 – i/o by Peter Gabriel”
#1295 – Palace of a Thousand Sounds by Whatitdo Archive Group
The selection from yesterday, as recommended by @something_soul, was so enjoyable that I had to return to the well for another refreshing gulp. This is the second album from this artist, a somewhat mysterious collective of musician/producers from the Reno, Nevada area. It definitely sounds like it came out of the desert. Because it did.
#1294 – Eli & Harry by The Breathing Effect
This is a great time of year for me to replenish my album to-do list. Every music publication puts out their various year-end wrap-up lists of their top 100 albums of the year or best new artists or whatever criteria they choose. This album, which I cannot recommend highly enough, came from a short listContinue reading “#1294 – Eli & Harry by The Breathing Effect”
#1293 – Rum Sodomy & The Lash by The Pogues
I give Spotify’s algorithm a lot of credit for introducing me to new artists on a regular basis, but that’s not my only avenue of discovery. Another method that has brought a decent number of albums to my ears is the obituary section of major news sites. Over and over again I learn about entireContinue reading “#1293 – Rum Sodomy & The Lash by The Pogues”
