From a casual conversation with some colleagues about the possibilities for country music from Germany, a quick search yielded quite a few interesting entries into this improbable genre. Gunter Gabriel certainly has the voice to carry these Johnny Cash classics and they take on a fairly sinister-sounding tone in his native tongue. The project seems to have been blessed by the Man in Black himself – he and Gunter were friends – as the album includes an introduction by him.
