I’ve listened to a lot of Jimi Hendrix’s material over the years. The roots of my music fandom lie in the classic rock garden and it’s fun to revisit the soundtrack of my youth to see how my listening habits and opinions have changed. My esteem for his musicianship and songwriting is as high as it ever was, which makes it all the stranger that I never listened to this posthumous release until now. Odd how that worked out, but who knows how it would’ve landed with me if I had experienced it at another time in my life.
