I love a good unsolicited recommendation. Especially when it’s a solid British metal band. I can never get enough of those.

#773 – Ochugen Maywa Denki by Maywa Denki
I got an Otamatone, a novelty musical instrument, for Father’s Day. It is an extremely fun thing to mess around with, so I wanted to see what else that company makes. The inventor is also part of the musical collective responsible for today’s selection.
#772 – Gold Rush Kid by George Ezra
#771 – 11:11 by Pinegrove
This album feels like it could’ve been written in the late ‘90s. Some of these songs would be perfect in the closing credits of an episode of Dawson’s Creek.
#770 – Harry’s House by Harry Styles
Harry Styles’ previous album was excellent, and surprised me with how much I liked it. I also just saw him at Coachella, which was an excellent performance. So it should come as no surprise that his latest offering is just as impactful. I’m fairly obsessed with the song Boyfriends, too.
#769 – A Light For Attracting Attention by The Smile
I can’t help but wish that these guys had spent this time working on a new Radiohead album, but this is still a great album. Not sure these songs would work for them anyway.
#768 – Yearning for the Infinite by Max Cooper
My favorite playlist on Spotify is called Peaceful Indie Ambient. I have discovered quite a few artists from it that now regularly populate my own playlists. This is a great example.
#767 – Wrong Way Up by Brian Eno & John Cale
It’s kind of mind-blowing that I never listened to any of Brian Eno’s work before a couple years ago. Not sure why it took so long, but I’m glad I’ve finally gotten there.
#766 – Curtains by Tindersticks
#765 – Kumoyo Island by Kikagaku Moyo
I’ve often wondered what the hippie/jam scene is like in other parts of the world, and learning about artists like this show that the influence of that era has made it pretty much everywhere. I hope these guys come to the US soon.
