My dad went to see The Who last night at Boston Garden. Their current tour features a full orchestra. Once again, a quick Spotify check shows me how little of the catalog of a classic band I am truly aware of. I decided to go back and listen to their 1965 album to hear the original article. It’s so interesting to hear an early album of someone who I’m fairly familiar with to clearly see their development. I will also say that they did the classic British band move of copying a black American artist’s style. If you can’t identify what I’m talking about after listening to this one, you should study up on rock history a little bit. Interesting side note: I’m writing this post from the Shrine theater in Los Angeles, where I’m about to see Sigur Ros for the first time. Exciting stuff.
