I have a few friends who regularly recommend the same general era of music. It’s so interesting to see the different periods that different people focus on. There truly is no accounting for taste. It gives me so much variety in the recommendations that I receive.

#686 – Fake It Flowers by beabadoobee
This artist popped up in an email about new album releases. Her pop-rock sound is a lot of fun, and just gets your toe tapping.
#685 – Redneck Shit by Wheeler Walker Jr.
This guy was a guest on a show I was working on, and he claimed that his new album was going to get him cancelled. Listening to this, his 2016 offering, I wouldn’t be at all surprised by that.
#684 – Back to Bedlam by James Blunt
Based on who this album was recommended by, I was expecting it to be a pretty sleepy, mostly acoustic affair. How wrong I was. It’s actually a lot more energetic and entertaining than I would’ve guessed.
#683 – For The Sake of Bethel Woods by Midlake
Every once in a while I hear an artist/album/song that it seems like everyone I know is discovering them at the same time. Since listening to this album, no fewer than three people have recommended it to me. It might, however, just be that we are all on the same email list.
